Waterford Family Session: the Veldjesgraaf Family

It’s the third time we got to spend time with Darren and Carolyn and their family. Read about our dash to the car after a memorable Waterford family session that was cut short by a rain storm.

Reconnecting with Old Friends

A Waterford family session is always special, but this one was particularly meaningful. Carolyn and Dianne go way back, having attended school together in Norwich. It was a heartwarming experience to reconnect with her and her husband Darren, who was just a year ahead of us in school. Time has flown, and now they are parents to four wonderful children—three beautiful girls and one handsome boy. Seeing them as a family reminded us how quickly life changes.

Embracing the Unexpected in Waterford

The session didn’t go exactly as planned, but that’s what made it so memorable. We traveled all the way from New Brunswick, and the journey came with a few bumps. We started later than expected, and to add to the excitement, the weather turned unpredictable. Dark clouds loomed overhead, threatening to cut our Waterford Family Session short.

But we didn’t let that dampen our spirits! We explored the area, watching fish jump in the water, peering over bridges, and enjoying the peaceful dock. After ensuring that we got all the obligatory necessary portraits, the first raindrops began to fall. We had to rush back to the cars, but not before snapping one last, magical photo—a testament to the resilience and joy of the day. You’ll have to scroll to the bottom to see that one!

Making Memories That Last

Despite the challenges, this Waterford family session was a success, thanks largely to Carolyn’s patience and positive attitude. Archer, the sweet little boy, loved spending time with his dad, while Amelia and Lilah, just three years apart, were inseparable. Little Rose’s favourite place to be was in Mama’s arms, and that was okay. These siblings are sure to create lifelong memories together.

This was our third session with the Veldjesgraaf family, and it certainly won’t be the last. We’re excited to finalize the photos and share the beautiful gallery with them soon. Things might not have gone exactly as planned, but the images we did capture tell a story of love, family, and the joy of making the best of unexpected circumstances.

We’re back in Ontario this October for more photo sessions! Interested in a full or mini session?
