It’s always the speeches that get us, and this Burlington wedding at La Salle Park was no different. From sweet memories recounted by the parents, to the fun recollections by the MCs, once again our eyes just opened up to how incredible all the couples are that we are blessed to love on.

QUIET ANTICIPATION

It’s been almost two years since Alexandra and Graeme’s ENGAGEMENT SESSION. And if we thought exploring Niagara on the Lake with them was the best, this wedding proved us wrong. From the first moment that we were welcomed into the getting ready suite of Alexandra at the Burlington Waterfront Hotel, we were welcomed with open arms. While the excitement could be felt, the room was relaxed and filled with quiet anticipation. We absolutely adore it when our couples are well prepared.

Alexandra had all her wedding day details ready, so we could get started on those photos immediately. We’d planned on lots of extra time, and we’re so glad we did! It allowed us to capture all the different stages of the getting ready time. From the fun jokes between bridesmaids, to sweet little Penny laying at Alexandra’s feet quietly watching all the events unfold… And during that, we had the possibility to capture the simplistic elegance of so many pretty details. They put extra thought into the meaning behind many of these items; even the invitation suite was made out to Graeme’s grandmother who was unable to attend. It was a special way of still involving her in the wedding.

When we met with the gentlemen in their suite, the air felt very similar. While we met both moms in the bride’s suite, the story behind meeting the father of the groom is a little more serendipitous. Funny enough, Bertus took the elevator down with the father of the groom who recognized the ring box he was holding. “Hey,” he said, “My son has the same ring box! He’s getting married today.” “Well,” Bertus deduced, “we must be going to the same wedding.”

A FAMILY AFFAIR IN BURLINGTON

After the bride was helped into her gorgeous Wtoo gown by her mama and stunning Badgley Mischkas by a friend, she and her gals followed shortly behind the groom and his friends. At their first look near the Burlington Marina, the swans looking on, the pure bliss on Graeme’s face after he turned around was contagious. The captures of that time of the day really show their love the best. We’re not going to guess, but are pretty sure that this wedding party was one of the best dressed that ever graced La Salle Park.

And that was before we even had the chance to meet the entire group that loves these two so much, from their family to friends, and even the “Penta Group” – a group that was started with five friends who still go on vacation together often. As their loved ones looked on, Alexandra was led up the aisle by her parents to her handsome groom. From the meaningful vows to the custom confetti put together by Alexandra herself (consisting of flowers and greenery that she’d been collecting for a while) that was thrown in the air on their walk back down the aisle as husband and wife… La Salle Park can never have seen so much joy, right?

THE START OF SOMETHING NEW

The rest of the day was not just a blur for the couple and their family, but also for us. We were so privileged to capture all the special touches that Alexandra and Graeme had put on this beautiful Burlington wedding day. And it could definitely not have gone so smoothly if it wasn’t for the incredible planner Amanda! She was an absolutely delight to work with!The delectable food was a highlight, of course, like always. But so were the special dances and speeches that we got to witness. Mother and son dancing to “You’ll be in my heart” from the Tarzan movie. Husband and wife danced to “Lover” by Taylor Swift. The entire evening felt like part of a movie, and we were there for it!

Their parents and friends spoke about their love story. And we couldn’t help but fall a little more in love with Alexandra and Graeme. They truly are a match for each other. Graeme’s kindness is the perfect compliment to Alexandra’s grace. Through the contents of the speeches, we could see how both their parents saw something in their new child-in-law so quickly. And why there was never a doubt in any of their minds that they were perfect together.Now they’re married, after an extra year of waiting. We couldn’t be more thrilled. And more excited to see what their future holds for them. Alexandra and Graeme, we wish you God’s blessing as you start this new chapter. Your wedding day is behind you, but your forever after is only just beginning.
