As Lucas guided his new bride down the gazebo steps, their Whistling Gardens wedding ceremony just behind them, he couldn’t keep his eyes off of Erin.Â
The day started warm, the beginning of one of the more humid weeks this summer. It sprinkled off and on during the morning. While capturing all the beautiful details at the Gardner residence, we got to meet some of Erin’s family. The “baby” of the family was getting married to the love of her life, and they couldn’t have been more excited. The excitement in their eyes just proved their love for her. Whatever the weather would be, whatever this Whistling Gardens wedding day would hold, it didn’t really matter.
As luck would have it, though, the rain came and went (several times) before any of the festivities started. We came prepared with umbrellas, like always, and were grateful not to need them. Have you heard of the belief that rain on your wedding day means good luck? We believe that still applies here. Don’t you agree?
After the stunning bride and handsome groom said their hellos to each other at a very sweet first look, and the wedding party portraits were finished, it was time for the real event of the day. Lucas’ father performed the intimate wedding ceremony. We’ve never been so lucky to have a father do this honour, and we wanted to make sure to capture that element well.
Lucas’ father told us that he would be reading from John 2, and we couldn’t have been more surprised! Just over 12 years ago, we said our vows at a ceremony where this same Bible text was focused on. This made Erin and Lucas’ wedding ceremony so much more meaningful to us. Oh to have Jesus at your wedding, what a blessing that is!
The ceremony was immediately followed by a stunning water show. Wanda and her husband have done such an incredible job making a visit to this garden the most amazing experience. And hosting a wedding here is just perfection. Being privileged enough to capture such a wedding; well, that’s just pure AWESOMENESS!!!
The water show is set to incredibly moving music, and one cannot be help but be mesmerized by the beauty of it all. Erin and Lucas just completed each photo captured here, and we’re of the opinion that this entire gallery is straight out of a fairytale. From the bridge overlooking the beautiful pond with swans to the gazebo where they vowed their love to one another… we struggle to put it all into words.
Dinner was a feast; the most tender roast beef and delicious pickled veggies were paired with amazing sorbet served in orange halves and miniature pineapples. Combine that with heartfelt speeches about Erin’s shyness and stories of how Lucas knew she was the one… well, you get the gist. Spending time together with such sweet loved ones after such a hectic 18 months sure is a reminder of what’s important in life.
Erin and Lucas, we’re beyond grateful that you chose us to capture your special day. We are so honoured to have gotten to know you and your family, we loved being witness to how much you are loved. You two have come to mean a lot to us, and we’re so excited to see what the future holds for you. We wish you God’s blessing in all that you do, many happy years together, and hope you had a fabulous honeymoon!
