This Niagara on the Lake engagement session with Alexandra and Graeme was a long time in the works. While we started planning for a fall feel, it was quite obvious at the beginning of the week that this was not to be the case. I’m not complaining, however, especially when I saw what these two picked for their two outfits! As I’m still working on an actual engagement session style guide, I sent them a Pinterest board with inspiration. And they did so well! I absolutely love the soft neutrals (I’m a sucker for that soft pink). But the most radiant and beautiful part of this session was the smiles of these two when they looked at each other.
We met in the centre of the little town of Niagara on the Lake; at Simcoe Park. From there we walked to the incredibly picturesque hotel; HARBOUR HOUSE. I wasn’t planning on spending a lot of time here, but within 15 minutes my camera had hundreds of images on it. I just couldn’t help myself! Alexandra and Graeme are just too cute for words. Guests who happened to be entering the hotel commented with the same remarks. Alexandra got to show off her gorgeous diamond to a few strangers. Her kindness literally radiates and it was such a joy to watch.
From there we walked to Queen’s park. It was completely flooded with people who were trying to spend one more summer day in this gorgeous setting, just like us. It meant that we were quite limited in what we were able to use. However, with a little patience (and Photoshop) I was able to capture some priceless moments. Using simple things like stairs or even the flowers at one of the adorable restaurants lining Queen Street, this gallery has one of the biggest variety of backgrounds that I’ve ever been able to capture.
And last but not least, we visited Il Gelato Di Carlotta where A & G enjoyed some delicious gelato (and I got some more water; I was crazy enough to have forgotten it at home. Note for next time: DO NOT FORGET THE WATER!) The store owner even cleared the store for us for one minute. You’ll have to see why below!!! All in all, this Niagara on the Lake engagement session is one for the books!
As sunset was nearing, we sped to a winery about half an hour from Niagara on the Lake; Henry of Pelham. We didn’t have a lot of time, but with all the practice that Alexandra and Graeme had earlier, it didn’t take a lot to capture even more than I’d hoped! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. Using the grapes for some detail photos of Alexandra’s gorgeous solitaire adds the perfect touch to their gallery, don’t you agree.
As I was driving home from this destination engagement session, my heart was truly filled with gratefulness for these two and all my DVI couples. I started to understand that there is something every single one of them has in common (other than the fact that they put up with me); their engagement session is so much more than just photos to them. It’s an experience. And the fact that I get to enjoy that with them means more than they’ll ever know.
Thank you, Alexandra and Graeme, for the amazing time we spent together. For the dinner invitation, even though it didn’t end up working out. And for being patient for these photos. I can’t wait to get you the rest of your gallery. I hope you and your guests enjoy looking through all of these tonight at your engagement party.
