“I love you to the mountains and back.” It was the theme of this Perth East countryside wedding. From the gorgeous wooden mountain range decor in their home to their vows; even the speeches during the reception. And every time they thought about it, they shared a knowing smile. Ailis was born and raised in Alberta and is the only daughter of Ron and Suzanne, and it wasn’t an easy day for either of them. Watching Ailis say “I do” on a country property the way they’d been planning for years definitely made it worth it, though.
No, I don’t mean the moment that Nolan first saw Ailis, even though it was one of the most special walks down the aisle I’ve ever captured. I mean the first time when Ron saw his beautiful daughter Ailis when she was wearing her dress. And her veil, of course. At Nolan and Ailis’ new home, we managed to create the perfect the moment. As she called out to her day, her heart must have been beating out of her chest. His sure was. As he turned around, he was absolutely speechless. Those tears didn’t take long to come. This was his only baby, and he’s held her in his arm shortly after she was born, calmed her when she had a boo-boo, and watched her graduate from high school, then university, and eventually become an amazing nurse.
From the sweet and stunning bridesmaids to the handsome and hilarious groomsmen; it was obvious that this bridal party was chosen in particular to be the best group of people for Ailis and Nolan to spend their day with. They have been there for Ailis and Nolan, supported them together and individually when things might have gotten hard. But they also made sure to celebrate the best times together, and today was definitely one of the best yet. Listening to the maid of honour and best man’s speeches brought tears to my eyes (yes, I’m emotional, and I’m okay with it). Especially the maid of honour’s hug at the end of her speech felt like a very special moment. It’s definitely a moment either of them will never forget, and it’s such an honour to capture those kinds of moments.
I can honestly say that I’ve never had a groom had such a reaction to watching his bride walking towards him and their new lives together. And it wasn’t only him. She was so thrilled to see the handsome man waiting for her at the end of the aisle; she even started walking faster the moment she saw him. The look on her face (documented below; make sure to enjoy that moment!) said it all. She loves him and is so excited to start this new chapter together with him by her side. The entire day was a blur for us, and I’m sure even more so for them. We felt privileged to be part of such an intimate gathering of people who all came together to watch these two say some amazing personal vows to each other at this Perth East countryside wedding. Which again revolved around the mountains.
I’m sure that Nolan fell quite quickly when he started to get to know Ailis, after moving out west. The look on his face this past Saturday still says the same. He seemed incredulous; like he just didn’t understand that this gorgeous woman is now his wife. Nolan, you are a lucky man. Trul!. Ailis is a gem. And Ailis, you are just as fortunate to have this handsome man by your side. The way he respects you is inspirational. May you two continue to look at each other with that same love. I know that no matter what happens, you two have found your best friend in each other. And to start your marriage with your best friend by your side sets you up for success, I’m sure! I hope you are having a blast in the Dominican. I can’t wait to get you the rest of your images soon!
It’s no wonder that outdoor countryside weddings are becoming so popular. HERE is one of my first weddings that also took advantage of great weather and a stunning location.
