From the simplicity of the details and the dress, the stunning views at their first look, the depth of the vows, all the way to the hilarity during bridal party portrait time… this Chesley wedding day turned out beyond all hopes and dreams.
Only a few months after their engagement session, Rachel and Johnny said I do in front of family and friends in a small chapel in Chesley, Ontario. We enjoyed beautiful sunshine on the day of their engagement sessions, but their wedding day was not to be outdone! A gorgeous and balmy 30 degrees on a Mid-April day was not what we would have dared to hope for. Needless to say, we enjoyed as much time outdoors as possible.
When Johnny proposed to Rachel back in 2021, he chose a spot that had always meant a lot to Rachel. “The Pond” is a gorgeous man-made pond with some docks where Rachel remembers spending countless summer days. Their first look taking place at this location makes their portraits during this time of the day very meaningful. There may not have been leaves on the trees yet at this time of year, but that didn’t take away from the beauty at all.
In the town nearest her childhood home stands the Ebenezer Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, Rachel’s family’s church. With a visiting pastor officiating, all the family in attendance, Rachel and Johnny vowed their love to one another. This Chesley wedding was filled with so many meaningful locations and moments. We even recreated one of Rachel’s parents’ own wedding photos!
After a very meaningful but short visit to Rachel’s grandpa, who’s being taken care of in a nursing home, it was time for portrait time. We met the entire wedding party at Neustadt Springs Brewery. They had been able to cool off and relax while enjoying a pint. The stunning stonework of the building makes it one of the more beautiful buildings in this quaint little town. It perfectly suited the stunning soft sage colour of the dresses and ties, and the sunshine was a perfect addition.
A delicious dinner at the Neustadt Community Hall catered by a local group of women was immensely enjoyed. Thanks to the incredible organization and communication of Johnny and Rachel’s employer, Wes, and his wife, Erna, the evening’s schedule was adjusted multiple times to allow every aspect of the last few events to take place. An adorable presentation by all children in attendance featuring an alphabet game, the cake cutting, golden hour portraits and a very meaningful time of fellowship by a pastor finished off the day.
Rachel and Johnny, you have been one of the only friends who we’ve been blessed to photograph on one of the most important days of your lives. To put into words what that means to us is just not possible. From our many sushi dates, Rachel, to hearing that you met this wonderful young man named Johnny; I (Dianne) will cherish these memories for a lifetime. But the gift that you gave us to allow us to spend this day with you cannot be topped. We wish you God’s blessing as you start this new chapter. Whatever is waiting for you, we know that He has you in His hands. We love you, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!
