Life on the Farm with the Crowe Family | A Sussex Farm Session

With foggy views on a cool June evening, this Sussex farm session might have been quick, but it checks all the boxes: wonderful people, a meaningful location, and a great time!

Life is Interesting on the Farm

It was a cloudy, rainy, and smoky day, right in the midst of the wildfires in New Brunswick. This Sussex farm session was scheduled and planned for over two months, so rescheduling wasn’t an option we really wanted to consider. All day we watched the radar. Everything changed every 10 minutes, but we were just going to make the best of it! Upon arrival, it started sprinkling slightly, so we just waited a little longer, also to allow the rest of the family to arrive. When it was safe to take some test shots, we were actually blown away by the result!

Farming Family

This Sussex farm session was planned by daughter Lily, who we’ve just loved getting to know! She and her husband love adorable chickens about as much as we do. Oh, and ice cream! (Inside joke – Lily) To celebrate her parents’ anniversary later on this summer, Lily and her family wanted to capture life the way it was during this time in their lives. They’d had photo sessions on the farm before, but all the photos we were sent just didn’t do it justice. The views here were extraordinary!

The Crowes were blessed with three wonderful children, Lily, Belle and Arthur. Their genuineness was evident from the moment of meeting them. And it didn’t take too long for us that our genuine love for Christ was shared. Lily later admitted that it was one of the reasons why they chose us to capture this session. God truly works in amazing ways.

Mama Barb felt most comfortable in her boots, and we believe it just made their session so much more authentic. From the rustic feel of the barn doors to the very unique accent of a red tractor, this session is just all “FARM”.

A Session that Pushed our Camera

Our session didn’t start closer to the time that we usually like to wrap up. The result was that we really had to push our Nikon camera to its limits. While photographers don’t need the extra explanation, let’s just say we had to push our light sensitivity to the max. And boy did our Nikon Z6II deliver! A mirrorless we purchased last year, we continue to be more and more impressed by it. The reviews were not wrong, and this session would not have had the same end result if not for its amazing quality.
